Lou Dumont

Lou Dumont Winery was established in 2000 by Japanese winemaker Koji Nakada. Known for his meticulous approach, Nakada embodies the precise craftsmanship typical of the Japanese culture, dedicating himself entirely to winemaking. He upholds the traditions of Burgundy while also incorporating innovative techniques, strictly following the ethos of "Terroir," with the entire process being meticulously done by hand.

In 2003, the winery relocated from Nuits-Saint-Georges to Gevrey-Chambertin. During a press conference on that day, even the late wine legend Henri Jayer was present to offer guidance and insights, showcasing the deep friendship and exchange of winemaking knowledge between the two. Influenced by Henri Jayer, Nakada merged Jayer's beliefs with his own, encapsulating his winemaking philosophy with the three characters in Japanese kanji: "天・地・人" (Heaven, Earth, Human), signifying the sincere reverence towards nature as the essence of a winemaker.

The manga "Kami no Shizuku" (Drops of God) also mentions one of the winery's Meursault white wines, describing it as a "radiant wine."
