Marchesi di Barolo

The Italian phrase "Marchesi di Barolo" translates to "Marquises of Barolo" in English. The first wine to be called Barolo was indeed born in this winery in the early 19th century. Barolo was originally just the name of a town, and the local Marquise Tancredi Falletti married a French woman named Giulia Vittorina Colbert de Maulevrier. Around 1840, Giulia brought in a winemaking expert, Count Louis Oudart, through a French friend. It was this French nobleman who used the techniques of Burgundy to transform Marchesi Falletti's Nebbiolo sweet wine into a dry red wine. Subsequently, they named this new wine Barolo, and the phrase "the wine of kings, the king of wines" was born in Italy.

Since 1929, the Marchesi di Barolo winery, owned by the Abbona family, has been passed down to the third generation, Ernesto Abbona, and his wife, Annamaria. Their goal is to produce wines with exceptionally pure aromas and achieve a beautiful balance between structure and elegance. The winery has maintained traditional winemaking methods while continuously striving for innovation and improvement to create high-quality Barolo wines. Their efforts have made Marchesi di Barolo one of the renowned wine brands in Italy, earning widespread acclaim and the adoration of wine enthusiasts.
