Meyer Nakel is located in the Ahr region and is famous for producing Germany's second largest grape variety, Pinot Noir. It is considered one of the best wineries in Germany for producing Pinot Noir and is currently a member of the VDP German Elite Winery organization. The winery has about 15 hectares of vineyards and was established through the marriage of "Paula Meyer" and "Willibald Näkel". It is now managed by Werner Nakel, two sisters, and their mother. He is the most influential red wine expert in Germany and was selected by the authoritative wine magazine Gault Millau Guide to German Wines as the best winemaker of 2004. The winery is a family-run boutique winery with the reputation of being a "Pinot Noir pioneer" because it is one of the first wineries in Germany to plant Pinot Noir grapes. Over the years, it has achieved great success on the world stage. A few decades ago, Germans did not believe that their country could produce good Pinot Noir, but in 2008, Meyer Nakel won the International Trophy at the Decanter World Wine Awards, and has since received more awards and recognition.

The winery's soil is composed of black slate gravel, which has excellent drainage and is easy to absorb the heat from the sun, increasing the maturity of the vineyard. The nearby Eifel Mountains also block the cold winds, making it an ideal location for grape growing and producing delicate Pinot Noir. What's special is that one of their wines is a white wine made from 100% Pinot Noir, which is quite interesting.
