Montes

Montes, founded in 1988 by four experienced wine industry professionals in Chile. The name of the winery comes from one of its founders and chief winemaker, Aurelio Montes, who had previously worked as a consultant for wineries such as Echeverria Wines, Santa Ines, San Carlos, and Casa Lapostelle.
Montes made a significant impact with their inaugural wine, the Montes Alpha Cabernet Sauvignon, released in 1987. However, it was in 1996 that they surpassed themselves by introducing their flagship wine, the Montes Alpha M. This wine garnered international attention and solidified Montes' reputation as Chile's premier winery. The Montes Alpha M is a classic Bordeaux-style blend that stands shoulder to shoulder with similar wines from Bordeaux and California's Napa Valley.
Following the success of Montes Alpha M, the winery continued to make waves in the international media with their subsequent releases, including Montes Folly and Purple Angel. These three iconic wines, with their grape sourcing primarily from the Colchagua Valley, have contributed to the esteemed reputation of the region.
Montes has become renowned for its commitment to crafting high-quality wines that showcase the potential of Chilean terroir. Their wines consistently receive critical acclaim, and they have played a significant role in elevating the status of Chilean wines on the global stage.
