Nantou is another Taiwanese whisky brand that has made a name for itself in the world of whisky. The Nantou Distillery, also known as Taiwan Tobacco and Liquor Corporation (TTL), is located in Nantou County, Taiwan. It is the only government-owned distillery in Taiwan. Nantou whiskies are crafted using copper pot stills and aged in a variety of cask types, including bourbon, sherry, and wine casks. Similar to Kavalan, the warm and humid climate of Taiwan accelerates the whisky maturation process, resulting in whiskies that exhibit unique characteristics.Nantou takes advantage of the local climate and water sources to produce its whiskies. The water used in the production process comes from the central mountain range of Taiwan, which is known for its purity.Nantou whiskies often showcase a range of flavors. They can have fruity notes, such as tropical fruits, citrus, and orchard fruits, as well as sweet notes of caramel, honey, and vanilla.
