Old Pulteney

Old Pulteney is widely recognized by seasoned whisky enthusiasts as one of the finest and most unique single malt Scotch whiskies in the world. Rooted in tradition and heritage, Old Pulteney represents the maritime style of single malt whisky, characterized by a subtle hint of sea salt. The distillery was founded by Mr. James Henderson in 1826 and takes its name from the family surname of Sir William Johnstone Pulteney, a Member of Parliament and Governor of the British Fisheries Society at the time.
Located in the town of Wick, at the northeastern tip of Scotland's coast, Old Pulteney is situated even farther north than Moscow by three degrees. Wick was renowned for its fishing and whisky industries, producing both silver herring and golden whisky, earning it the reputation of being an industry with "silver and gold." Over the years, the local fishing industry declined, and the distillery faced its own ups and downs. However, it has managed to endure and gain a reputation in the whisky world for its commitment to traditional craftsmanship.
