Opus One

Opus One is a collaboration between two renowned wineries, Mouton Rothschild from France and Robert Mondavi from the United States, producing a super-premium wine. In 1970, Robert Mondavi, the owner of Robert Mondavi Winery in the US, and Baron Philippe de Rothschild, the owner of Château Mouton Rothschild, one of the five prestigious Bordeaux wine estates, met for the first time in Hawaii. Mondavi proposed a collaboration, but initially did not receive a positive response from Baron Philippe.

In 1978, Baron Philippe invited Mondavi to Bordeaux to discuss a grand plan - how to create the best first wine from America. It was during these discussions that Opus One was born, and they went on to revolutionize the entire American wine market. The collaboration brought together a world-renowned Bordeaux winemaker and an iconic American winemaking master, sparking a dazzling synergy.

Today, Opus One, often referred to as "The First Wine," is recognized as a wine that can stand shoulder to shoulder with the top Bordeaux wines. Its reputation is on par with the five prestigious Bordeaux estates, and its value has reached a level that rivals them. Opus One has become a symbol of excellence in the world of wine.
