When Jayson Pahlmeyer realized he was reading more wine magazines than legal journals, he decided to leave behind his stable life as a prosecutor and pursue his dream of producing a California Bordeaux-style wine. After several trips to France and studying viticulture and winemaking with the help of professors at the University of Bordeaux, Jayson became proficient in identifying and separating the best clones and classic Bordeaux red wine varieties, such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Petit Verdot, and Malbec. He then imported these clones to California and, true to his legal background of seeking the truth, partnered with agricultural expert Dr. Paul Skinner to create California Bordeaux-style wines that were rich, saturated, and complex.
In 1986, Jayson released the first vintage of Pahlmeyer wine. With the assistance of renowned winemakers from both the United States and France, including David Abreu, Bob Levy, Randy Dunn, Helen Turley, and Michel Rolland, Pahlmeyer wines achieved perfection in every aspect, making them highly sought after by wine enthusiasts worldwide. In 1994, Pahlmeyer wines even made their way to the silver screen, becoming a coveted item in the movie "Disclosure." The wine's scarcity added to its allure, and it became an alternative seduction tool used by the film's leading lady, Demi Moore. As the movie portrayed office politics and passionate affairs, Pahlmeyer gained significant recognition and demand, leaving wine enthusiasts clamoring for a taste.
