Pierre Yves Colin Morey

Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey is a collaboration between two of the most prestigious white wine producing families in Burgundy: Colin and Morey. The owner, Pierre-Yves, is the eldest son of renowned Chassagne white wine maker Marc Colin. In 2001, he and his wife, Caroline Morey (daughter of Jean-Marc Morey), established their own small wine company under the name Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey. Pierre-Yves worked for his father's winery, Marc Colin, for ten years before inheriting 5.35 hectares of vineyards in Chassagne and St-Aubin. He also purchases grapes from other wine growers and produces only 2-3 barrels, making his wines very rare. The winery uses whole-cluster pressing and slow fermentation in oak barrels, and Pierre-Yves utilizes natural yeast for fermentation. All their wines are aged in 30% new oak, except for Batard, which is aged in 50% new oak. Pierre-Yves' winemaking style is both rich and elegant, with fresh fruit flavors and minerality. The wines are refreshing with a long finish. The winery prefers to use 350-liter large oak barrels, which are bigger than the standard barrels in Burgundy and impart a more elegant touch. Each bottle is carefully sealed with wax by hand to prevent premature oxidation during bottling.
