Place of Changing Winds

Place of Changing Winds Winery has a history of only a few decades. In 2011, Robert and Kate found their starting point in Bullengarook and Macedon, which was historically known as Warekilla by the Wurundjeri indigenous people. Robert has been working as a wine buyer in Australia for nearly 20 years. During his time in the industry, he has worked with many top growers in classic grape-growing regions and gained a lot of knowledge. Kate is also passionate about studying wine and they both started this winemaking journey together.

The vineyard is located at an altitude of 500 meters, with a significant temperature difference between day and night. The soil is also unique - a rocky soil called Bullengarook gravel, formed in the Ordovician period over 400 million years ago. Combined with high-density and unique planting methods, the 3.1 hectare vineyard is home to nearly 45,000 grape vines. Our goal is to cultivate grapevines with a natural balance and smaller grape clusters, in hopes of producing high-quality fruit and making exceptional wines. In 2014, we also adopted the Poussard pruning technique to create stronger plants with better resistance to diseases. With a large team managing the vines by hand, and the addition of knowledgeable assistants, our winery has made great progress.
