Founded in 1958 by Father Don Fiorino Marengo, the cooperative winery consists of 19 small grape growers who joined forces to establish the venture. Today, the cooperative has grown to include 50 members and owns a total of approximately 100 hectares of vineyards, all located in the Barbaresco village. They also possess nine plots that are widely recognized in the village, known as "MGA" (Menzione Geografica Aggiuntiva).The structure of the cooperative is quite different from a traditional winery. Every three years, all members elect nine representatives to form the management committee, which hires a general manager and a winemaker to handle the winemaking operations. Major decisions regarding the cooperative must go through the management committee for approval.Adhering to winemaking traditions, the cooperative uses indigenous yeasts for fermentation, employs extended maceration periods, and utilizes large wooden vats for aging. The cooperative produces only three types of wines. The first is Langhe Nebbiolo, followed by a blended Barbaresco that combines grapes from all nine single vineyards.
