Sottimano Winery was founded in the late 1960s by the visionary Rino Sottimano, who started with just a few hectares of vineyards. Through dedication and hard work, the estate has since grown to over 18 hectares, with ownership of five prestigious vineyards in Barbaresco: Curra, Cotta, Fausoni, Pajore, and Basarin.

From the very beginning, Rino adhered to his deep-seated belief in respecting nature. The winery has always prioritized sustainable practices, avoiding the overuse of chemicals to maintain the natural balance of the soil. This commitment to the environment has been a cornerstone of their philosophy since day one.

In winemaking, Sottimano employs traditional and meticulous techniques to bring out the best in their wines. They use long maceration and employ the sur lie method, allowing the wine to age on its lees during malolactic fermentation. This process adds depth, complexity, and richness to the wine, resulting in a fuller body and more layered flavors.

The winery’s dedication to quality and authenticity has not gone unnoticed. Sottimano has earned widespread acclaim, including being recognized as one of the Top 100 Wineries by Wine Enthusiast. Their wines are a true expression of Barbaresco’s terroir and a testament to the family’s unwavering passion for excellence.
