Togouchi

Togouchi is a brand of Japanese whisky that is known for its unique production process. While Togouchi whisky is labeled as Japanese whisky, it is actually a blend of whisky produced in Scotland and Canada, which is then imported to Japan for maturation, blending, and bottling.The Togouchi whisky is produced by Chugoku Jozo, a Japanese spirits company located in the Togouchi region of Hiroshima Prefecture. Due to the Japanese regulations for whisky production, which require the whisky to be distilled and aged in Japan, Chugoku Jozo imports the malt and grain whisky from Scotland and Canada to create their unique blend.Once imported, the whisky is brought to the Togouchi aging facility in Japan, where it undergoes further maturation in a tunnel dug into the mountainside. The constant temperature and humidity of the tunnel provide an ideal environment for aging the whisky and allowing it to develop its flavors.
