Weingut Zach Bergweiler Prüm Erben

Weingut Zach Bergweiler Prüm Erben is a project initiated by Ernst Loosen to pay tribute to his great-grandfather Zacharias Bergweiler-Prüm, a winemaker from the Mosel region. Born in 1861, Zacharias established a large-scale wine estate at a very early stage and later married into another highly successful winemaking family, the Prüm family. His winemaking philosophy was characterized by extreme patience and a low-intervention approach, which helped elevate German Riesling to the international stage. Today, Riesling has gained global recognition and reached its peak reputation, thanks to the efforts of this remarkable winemaker. Without him, we might not enjoy the exceptional quality Riesling wines we have today.

This project sources its grapes from the Wehlener Sonnenuhr, one of Mosel's most renowned Riesling vineyards. This vineyard, passed down since Zacharias' time, consists of ungrafted vines that have reached an age of 130 years. The wine captures the essence and flavors of that era, bringing the taste of history into every bottle.
