Yarra Yering

Yarra Yering winery is located in the Yarra Valley region of Victoria, Australia. Compared to other wine regions, the climate here is relatively cool, with average temperatures in January even below 20°C. This allows the grapes to enjoy a longer ripening period, resulting in wines that are more elegant and balanced.

The winery was founded by Dr. Bailey Carrodus, a plant scientist with a PhD from the University of Oxford. Recognizing the potential of the terroir in this area, he established the winery in 1969 after extensive research, with the aim of producing his vision of outstanding wines. Yarra Yering can be considered one of the pioneers that drove the development of the local wine industry.

Initially, the winery covered only 12 hectares and was situated at the foot of Warramate Hills. In 1973, Yarra Yering officially released its first vintage. The earliest wines introduced were the Dry Red No. 1 and No. 2, which respectively showcased Bordeaux and Northern Rhône styles. These two wines have become iconic flagship wines of the winery, renowned worldwide for over 30 years. Thanks to their exceptional quality, Yarra Yering quickly gained a strong reputation and contributed to the flourishing winemaking culture in the Yarra Valley region.
