The Humbrecht family has been involved in viticulture since 1620, establishing themselves as a prominent winemaking dynasty. In 1959, the then-owner Leonard Humbrecht met and fell in love with Geneviere Zind, a fellow grape grower from a neighboring village. They merged their vineyards, and since then, the estate has been passed down through the generations. The current young proprietor has taken the winery to new heights, significantly elevating its reputation and presence on the international stage, with distribution reaching various corners of the world.

As a young man, the former owner studied winemaking in Burgundy, France, and acquired valuable skills. Returning to Alsace, he embraced the principle of "learning from nature," highlighting the importance of terroir and grape varieties. He has a strong aversion to commercialized wines and opposes the production of "technological wines." Instead, he practices 100% biodynamic viticulture, analyzing the movements of the sun, moon, and stars. He even developed a unique method to combat frequent occurrences of mildew by harnessing natural forces, producing wines with more organic qualities and a focus on showcasing the best expression of terroir.

The current proprietor is also the only French person to hold the prestigious "Master of Wine" qualification awarded by the United Kingdom. He is a polymath, well-versed in various fields of knowledge. Furthermore, he has developed his own distinct winemaking philosophy.
