Yoshikawa Shuzo was established in 1912, making it 110 years old. In terms of sake brewing, it is relatively young. The brewery is located in Isehara City, Kanagawa, and is the only sake brewery in the area. It sits at the foot of Mount Tanzawa, which has been traditionally shrouded in dense clouds and mist, even on clear days. This is why Mount Tanzawa has been referred to as the "Rainfall Mountain." One of Japan's most famous attractions, the "Oyama Afuri Shrine," is also situated there and is considered a sacred place for rain prayers. Yoshikawa Shuzo has a deep connection with the "Oyama Afuri Shrine."

The source of water for sake production is crucial, and Yoshikawa Shuzo utilizes underground water. Rainwater slowly seeps into the soil, undergoes a gradual and layered filtration process, and transforms into crystal-clear water. The water is rich in various minerals, with a hardness level reaching the highest grade of 150 (mg/L) in Japan. It is a water quality that is beneficial for health and beauty.

In April 2021, Yoshikawa Shuzo launched its new brand named "Amefuri." The brewery announced that it would use the mountain's divine authority as the brand name. The brand name was personally written by the head priest of the Oyama Afuri Shrine, combining local culture. At the same time, it aims to convey the concept of "Sake for Life's Sake," inspired by the French philosopher and poet Jean-Marie Guyau's "Art for Life's Sake." This concept signifies creating sake that can accompany and enhance life, adding color to everyday existence.
