Robert Parker's Wine Advocate 93
This wine comes from a site cooled down by the ocean in Malgas and represents a seven-hour round trip by car, hence the wine's fanciful name. The ground is covered in river pebbles and shale. The Savage Wines 2023 Touriga Nacional Are We There Yet is another maritime red that, in this case, is inspired by the Douro in Portugal but remains South African in personality. Duncan Savage had heard how interesting this site was and was intrigued by the lack of soil. This fruit went to the Savage Red in the early days, but it became clear that this grape needed its own home. The bouquet shows red rose, earthiness, an emphasis on blue fruits and salty end notes over a medium-plus finish.
