Ausone

Château Ausone is located in the Saint-Émilion appellation on the right bank of Bordeaux and is one of the four classified "A" estates in the region. It is also recognized as one of the eight prestigious Grand Cru Classé estates in Bordeaux. The vineyard spans 7.25 hectares and produces approximately 2,500 cases of wine per year.Château Ausone enjoys an exceptional geographical advantage. Its vineyards face east or southeast, allowing them to benefit from ample sunlight while being protected from the northwest winds. This positioning helps mitigate the risk of frost damage. While most wines in Saint-Émilion are dominated by Merlot, Château Ausone is predominantly led by Cabernet Franc. The average age of the vines is 52 years, with some dating back to the early 20th century, boasting centenarian vines.The vineyard is meticulously cared for, including the cultivation of various fruit trees and aromatic plants. During the harvest, the grapes undergo rigorous selection, ensuring that only healthy grapes reaching optimal ripeness are used for winemaking. The estate's flagship wine is aged in 100% new oak barrels for up to 24 months, surpassing the typical aging period of 18 months.
