Cerron Stratum Wines

Stratum Wines is located in the Jumilla region of Spain, characterized by its arid desert landscape and Mediterranean climate, making it an uncommon wine-producing area. It is one of the 70 wineries in Jumilla, with a history spanning several decades. This small winemaking family, now managed by the fourth generation of the Cerdan family - Carlos, Juanjo, and Lucia - shares a common vision and works diligently towards change and innovation. Over the past decade, the winery has evolved into one of the top wineries in the region.

Their 30-hectare vineyard, situated at an altitude of 800-1000 meters, follows certified biodynamic practices. They mainly cultivate Monastrell, with a significant portion of the vines aged between 50 to 80 years. The winery has also started growing the white grape variety Airen, departing from the traditional focus on Monastrell in Jumilla.

Stratum Wines distinguishes its wines using unconventional classifications such as "Village Level," "Premier Cru," and "Grand Cru." For instance, Matas Altas is classified as "Village Level," Servil and Los Yesares are designated as "Premier Cru," and Calera and Cerrico are labeled as "Grand Cru." Despite being a lesser-known region, it houses a group of passionate young winemakers who have garnered high praise from the Robert Parker team.
