Chateau de Sancerre

The history of Chateau de Sancerre is deeply rooted, with its winemaking heritage dating back to the 12th century, passing through generations from Louis de Sancerre to Louis-Alexandre Marnier. The castle, located in Sancerre on the left bank of the Loire River, faced destruction during wars in the 13th century, leaving only the fortress tower Tour des Fiefs standing as a survivor from the medieval era.

Situated in Sancerre, the estate benefits from unique soil structures, including "Silex," "Terres Blanches," and "Caillottes," each contributing to the wines with full-bodied textures, tropical fruit flavors, fresh floral and fruity aromas, good acidity, and smoky mineral characteristics that perfectly reflect the terroir of Sancerre. The estate spans 57 hectares of vineyards with an average vine age of 30 years, spread across the villages of Bue, Menetreol, Thauvenay, and Crezncy. All the grapes are certified with the "High Environmental Value" Level 4 certification, ensuring biodiversity and employing sustainable practices such as fertilization management, irrigation, and plant quarantine strategies.

Through the dedication of multiple generations and meticulous efforts, Chateau de Sancerre has earned its place as a legendary estate named after the renowned "Sancerre AOC" appellation, showcasing the essence of the region's winemaking traditions and terroir.
