Clos L'Eglise

Chateau Clos L'Eglise is located in the heart of Pomerol in Bordeaux. The winery's origins can be traced back to the 18th century, making it one of the oldest wineries in the region. Originally, it was part of the Château Gombaude-Guillot estate, but due to inheritance issues, the property was divided in two, with one part becoming the current Clos L'Eglise estate. In 1925, a major winery ranking was held in Pomerol, and Clos L'Eglise gained attention and was selected as one of the top wineries in the region alongside Chateau La Conseillante.

Today, the winery is managed by Hélène Garcin Cathiard. In addition to renovating the wine cellar facilities, they have also hired the renowned winemaker Michel Rolland as a consultant, with the aim of combining modern techniques with traditional winemaking methods. The vineyards are located on perfect slopes, with plenty of sunlight and ideal soil for growing concentrated Merlot. The grapes are hand-picked and the wine is made using traditional methods, including manual stomping of the grapes.
