Domaine de Trevallon

Domaine de Trévallon is located on the edge of the Alpilles mountains between Avignon and Arles in Provence. It is renowned for producing natural wines. Founder Eloi Dürrbach planted the first vines on his father's land in 1973. In 1978, he received a visit from an anonymous Burgundy estate owner, Aubert de Villaine, the former proprietor of Domaine de la Romanée-Conti. Impressed, Aubert de Villaine recommended Domaine de Trévallon to the prominent American wine merchant Kermit Lynch. In the 1990s, Kermit Lynch introduced the estate's wines to renowned wine critic Robert Parker, who considered Trévallon "one of the best discoveries of my life."

The vineyard covers approximately 17 hectares and is planted with Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah. Of the total, 15 hectares are dedicated to Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah, while 2 hectares are planted with Marsanne and Roussanne. The estate's first vintage was in 1976. Winemaking follows a natural and low-intervention approach. Whole-cluster fermentation is employed, using indigenous yeasts. After a two-week maceration period, the wine is aged in oak barrels for approximately 20-25 months. It is bottled without filtration, but clarification may be done using egg whites. The wines of Domaine de Trévallon are both natural and possess remarkable aging potential.
