Mas Martinet is located in the Priorat wine region of Spain and is one of the most influential wineries in the area. Its history dates back to the 1980s when it was founded by the legendary winemaker Josep Lluís Pérez and his family. Josep Lluís Pérez is acclaimed as the "Father of the Priorat Renaissance." He was not only a winemaker but also a biologist, a teacher at a wine school, and a key figure in the local wine revolution.

Before the 1980s, Priorat was almost abandoned due to economic hardship and depopulation. Josep Lluís Pérez, along with other pioneers like Álvaro Palacios, unveiled the potential of this ancient land, introduced modern winemaking techniques, and replanted high-quality grape varieties, propelling Priorat to become one of Spain's top wine regions. In 1996, Josep Lluís Pérez's daughter, Sara Pérez, took over the winery, further promoting organic farming and biodynamic methods, interpreting the terroir of Priorat in a more refined style.

Today, Mas Martinet has become a benchmark winery in the minds of Spanish wine enthusiasts and professional critics. Sara Pérez continues her father's innovative spirit, incorporating more experimental techniques and collaborating with her husband, René Barbier, heir to the Clos Mogador winery, to introduce more wine offerings.

Their wines are highly regarded by Robert Parker and Jancis Robinson. Jancis Robinson once tried the "Clos Martinet Priorat" and described it as a wine that feels like drinking Château Petrus, extremely delicious, and completely different from other Priorat wines.
