Restless River

Restless River was founded in 2004 by Craig Wessel in Upper Hemel-en-Aarde Valley, South Africa. Craig is also the winemaker and comes from a family with a long history in this valley. His ancestors settled here hundreds of years ago in 1760, and he is the seventh generation descendant of South African President Paul Kruger. In 2004, Craig and his wife Anne bought 20 hectares of land from the original farm and returned to the valley. Currently, 7 hectares of land are planted with grapes in ancient, granite, rock, and deep clay. The farm has some of the oldest Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay in Hemel-en-Aarde, with the vines first planted in 1999. It takes a lot of effort to produce a small quantity of high-quality grapes. It is a must-try South Africa winery
