Sakurao Distillery

Sakurao Brewing Corporation is a century-old sake brewery located in Sakurao City, Hiroshima, Japan. It was established in October 1918 during the Taisho period. For a long time, the brewery focused on producing "shochu," a traditional Japanese distilled spirit. In 1963, they began brewing Japanese sake.

Initially, Sakurao imported high-quality whisky distillates from Scotland and Canada, which were then blended, harmonized, and aged in a tunnel that was excavated in 1970 and measures 387 meters in length. The tunnel provides a consistent temperature of 14 degrees Celsius and 80% humidity, making it an ideal location for whisky maturation. The master blender at Sakurao possesses exceptional skills in coordinating the unique qualities of the whisky to reflect the characteristics of its maturation environment. The whisky exhibits a nutty aroma, followed by gentle sweetness of vanilla and milk chocolate, and a lingering fruity finish.

In addition to their whisky, Sakurao Brewery has also introduced the Sakurao Single Malt series, which is a must-try for Japanese whisky enthusiasts.
