Ochota Barrels is managed by its owner, Taras. In his younger days, Taras and his wife, Amber, frequently traveled the world in a camping van, exploring renowned wine regions such as Sicily, Puglia, California, and Sweden. These experiences ignited Taras' passion for winemaking, and he began to immerse himself in learning the craft. Eventually, they settled in Basket Range, South Australia, and Taras pursued further education in wine production at the University of Adelaide.

The winery's label is intriguing, featuring a circular design reminiscent of a maze, leaving a lasting impression. This design represents Taras' winemaking philosophy of creating wines that are delicious, layered, and evocative. During his travels in France, Taras was deeply inspired by biodynamic farming practices and developed a profound respect for the land. This led him to produce organic wines with minimal intervention, low carbon dioxide levels, and a focus on expressing the true character of the grapes.

In 2013 and 2017, Taras was recognized as the "Young Gun of Wine" and awarded Best Winemaker by Gourmet Traveller WINE. Ochota Barrels has also been selected as one of the "World's Top 100 Wineries" by Wine & Spirit Magazine. One of their notable wines, the Ochota Barrels Texture Like Sun Sector Red 2021, is a blend of black and white grape varieties, showcasing their commitment to crafting unique and exceptional wines.
